ZMBF and the MoCDGEC Convene Stakeholders’ Meeting to Discuss the Integrated Digital System for Gender-Based Violence Case Information and Management

The Zanzibar Maisha Bora Foundation (ZMBF), in collaboration with the Ministry of Community Development, Gender, Elderly and Children of Zanzibar, convened a stakeholders’ meeting on Gender-Based Violence (GBV). The meeting brought together representatives from various government ministries, public institutions, and civil society organizations (NGOs).

The session was officially opened by the Honourable Mayor of Zanzibar City, Mahmoud Mohamed Mussa, and Dr. Ibrahim Kabole, Health Services Coordinator from ZPDB. Both emphasized the importance of developing interoperable digital systems that can communicate and operate jointly to enhance service delivery and improve efficiency in data collection and coordination of community interventions.

The Director of the E-Government Agency Zanzibar (EGAZ), Dr. Said Seif Said, also attended the meeting and reaffirmed the Government’s commitment to strengthening ICT systems that foster collaboration among institutions addressing social issues, particularly the protection of women and children.

Speaking during the meeting, ZMBF Chief Executive Officer, Mrs. Fatma Fungo, stated:
“ZMBF continues to work closely with the Government through relevant ministries to establish sustainable systems for monitoring, coordination, and service delivery for GBV survivors. This digital system will enable timely access to data and support evidence-based policymaking.

 

 

Benefits of the Digital GBV System

The digital GBV system is expected to deliver significant benefits to the community, including:

  1. Accelerating and simplifying access to services for GBV survivors.

  2. Enhancing the reporting process for GBV incidents.

  3. Improving access to accurate and timely data from community to national levels.

  4. Strengthening accountability among institutions dealing with GBV issues.

  5. Enabling data analysis and research to support evidence-driven strategies.

  6. Raising public awareness on how to report cases and access support services.

ZMBF remains a key partner in supporting Government efforts to promote community well-being, particularly in the sectors of health, economic empowerment, and protection of women and children.
