Tanzanian Medical Doctor and Public health specialist with 25 years of working experience in the Global Health development space. Under different capacity she is experienced working with Government, the bilateral & multilateral Development Partners, and Non-Government Organizations environment, which has enabled effective interaction with social, political & administrative structures from global, national to the community levels.
Dr. Ellen has provided stewardship and strategic leadership as the founding CEO to the Benjamin William Mkapa Foundation (BMF), from its establishment in the year 2006 to the current status, whereas excellence has been registered by impacting the lives of 20million people in Tanzania Mainland and Zanzibar. This includes making BMF the Non-Government entity that is the 2nd largest employee in the public sector facilities after the Government.
She has spearheaded setting up and reinforcement of the health systems and structure by advancing programs on Human Resources for Health including Community Health Workers, HIV and AIDS, Tuberculosis, Reproductive Maternal Newborn Child and Adolescent Health (RMNCAH), and COVID-19 related services in underserved areas of Tanzania
