She is an experienced member of the Zanzibar House of Representatives was Chairperson of The House of Representatives and Chairperson of women caucus in the Zanzibar House of Representatives 2010 and a gender-sensitive enabled her to become.
This enabled her to be the first women member of Parliament to table Private Motion on Gender-Based Violence (GBV) and moved for amendment of criminal procedure act and evidence law which resulted to the amendment of criminal procedure act and evidence act and further increased the number of one-stop center for GBV cases in every district and campaign on GBV spearheaded by the Government.
Her vast experience and charisma enabled her to be the first woman to be elected as Deputy Speaker of the Zanzibar House of Representatives in 2015 the post of which is still holding. She was the first woman to be elected as Deputy Speaker in Zanzibar In 2015.Her academic qualification includes a master's degree in Geography and Tourism Management and Tourism and leisure.
