Miss World 2025 Visit ZMBF’s Tumaini Kits Production Center

  • July 21, 2025

Zanzibar Maisha Bora Foundation (ZMBF) had the honor of hosting Miss World 2025, Opal Suchata, and Miss World Africa, Hasset Dereje, for an official visit to the Foundation’s Tumaini Kits Production Center in Migombani, Zanzibar.

The distinguished guests were welcomed by ZMBF Chief Executive Officer, Ms. Fatma Fungo, and taken through the inspiring work of the Foundation.

The visit highlighted the Tumaini Initiative, a flagship program that provides reusable sanitary towels to adolescent girls in Zanzibar. To date, over 9,000 girls from schools on Unguja and Pemba have benefited from the initiative. Each girl receives a Tumaini Kit (Containing five washable sanitary towels) designed to last up to five years, empowering them to attend school regularly and manage their menstrual health with dignity.

Miss World engaged with the team involved in the production process, listened to moving stories of transformation, and commended the Foundation’s commitment to education, menstrual health, and women’s empowerment.

“What we witnessed here is the true meaning of Beauty with a Purpose,” said Miss World, Opal Suchata. “Every Tumaini Kit given is a step closer to a generation of girls who will not be left behind.”

The visit also acknowledged ZMBF’s wider efforts beyond menstrual health. Programs such as seaweed farming, nutrition campaigns, and economic empowerment for women and youth reflect the Foundation’s holistic mission to improve the well-being of all Zanzibaris.

This visit reinforced ZMBF’s ongoing commitment to breaking taboos, building confidence in young girls, and ensuring that no girl misses school due to lack of access to menstrual products.
