The Zanzibar Maisha Bora Foundation (ZMBF), under the esteemed leadership of H.E. Mrs. Mariam H. Mwinyi, First Lady of Zanzibar and Chairperson of the Board of Trustees, proudly inaugurated its Second Board of Trustees and officially opened the Foundation’s new office in Zanzibar.
The event marked a significant milestone in ZMBF’s growth, reaffirming its dedication to delivering inclusive, community-led development across the isles. The new office symbolizes the Foundation’s expanding footprint and operational capacity, while the newly appointed Board of Trustees brings fresh vision and expertise to guide ZMBF’s mission
In her keynote speech, H.E. Mrs. Mariam H. Mwinyi reiterated her commitment to improving the lives of Zanzibaris through programs in health, women and youth empowerment, education, and social welfare. She acknowledged the contributions of the outgoing board and welcomed the new members with optimism and trust.
During the ceremony, ZMBF CEO, Mrs. Fatma Fungo, paid tribute to the outgoing trustees, commending their dedication in building a strong foundation that will enable the Foundation’s continued growth and impact.
Outgoing Vice Chairperson, Mrs. Asha Mahmoud Mzee, expressed pride in the board’s pioneering role in ZMBF’s journey and affirmed their continued support to the Foundation’s vision.
Speaking on behalf of the incoming board, Dr. Josephine Rogate Kimaro, Deputy CEO of PBZ Zanzibar, shared her gratitude and readiness to serve alongside a passionate and diverse team, committed to advancing a brighter future for the people of Zanzibar.
The inauguration reflects ZMBF’s strengthened governance and growing impact, as the Foundation continues to implement high-impact programs such as the Tumaini Initiative, Afya Bora, Maisha Bora Medical Camps, and economic empowerment of seaweed farmers through the JP-RWEE Project.
