2010 became member of Zanzibar House of Representative and elected as Chairperson of The House of Representatives 2010 and Chairperson of women caucus in the Zanzibar House of Representative 2010. She became the first women member to table private motion on Gender Based Violence (GBV) and moved for amendment of criminal procedure act and evidence law which resulted to amendment of criminal procedure act and evidence act and further increased number of one stop centre for GBV cases in every district and campaign on GBV spearheaded by the Government. of the said laws. In 2021 Hon Mgeni has been appointed by President Samia Suluh Hassan as a member of National advisory committee on Generation Equality Forum Currently serving as Deputy Speaker of the Zanzibar House of Representative. She was the first women to be elected as Deputy speaker in Zanzibar In 2015. Born in Zanzibar, Tanzania and married with 3 children. She has Education Msc in Geography and Tourism Management and Tourism and leasure in Sofia University Bulgaria.
